Energy Management Systems Technician (EMS Technician) - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist with design and submittal reviews of HVAC DDC and EMS systems.
- Review utility data and energy usage to identify facilities for recommissioning and retro-commissioning.
- Analyze EMS, energy data, and alarms to recommend cost-effective energy conservation and preventive maintenance measures.
- Conduct site visits to investigate and evaluate EMS/DDC conditions.
- Scope and implement solutions or alternatives to projects and repairs for existing EMS systems.
- Respond to trouble calls, calibrate systems, and resolve basic electrical and DDC problems.
- Assist in managing in-house commissioning projects and support field personnel as needed.
- Collaborate closely with technical quality support teams to ensure optimal system performance.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience as an HVAC DDC technician.
- Proficiency in computer networking principles, including configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to wire, start up, and troubleshoot basic HVAC DDC maintenance issues.
- Fundamental understanding of HVAC operations within commercial or educational facilities.
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in engineering (mechanical, computer science, electrical, information technology) from a recognized institution OR a two-year technical degree in HVAC or electronics-related studies with two additional years of relevant experience.

- Demonstrated hands-on experience with multiple DDC manufacturers such as Automated Logic, Carrier, Delta, Distech, Schneider Electric, or Trane.
- Proven ability to debug installation issues during static and dynamic start-up phases.
- Experience supporting installation personnel and contractors on project sites.
- Extensive experience performing or assisting in EMS commissioning.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
