The Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for comprehensive patient care throughout all phases of endoscopy and bronchoscopy procedures, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative periods. This position requires a high level of clinical skill and the ability to respond to emergencies, monitor sedation, educate patients, and operate advanced medical equipment. As an Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN), you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, anesthesia providers, GI technicians, and ancillary staff. Your role encompasses patient assessment, care planning, medication administration, procedural assistance, and recovery care. You will also be responsible for emergency response, patient education, and maintaining accurate documentation. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of nursing protocols, medication effects, and emergency procedures, especially in the context of endoscopic and bronchoscopic interventions.

Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN) - Summary
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care for patients undergoing endoscopy and bronchoscopy procedures.
- Work in a multidisciplinary team environment to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
- Participate in all phases of procedural care, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative periods.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients scheduled for endoscopy and bronchoscopy procedures.
- Administer prescribed treatments and medications, including moderate and deep sedation, as an Endoscopy Registered Nurse (RN).
- Prepare patients for procedures, assist physicians as needed, provide patient and family education, and operate specialized medical equipment.
- Monitor patients continuously during procedures and recoveries, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Initiate life-saving procedures and assist with advanced cardiac life support measures when required.
- Accurately document nursing care plans, patient progress notes, and medication administration.
- Maintain accountability for controlled drugs and narcotics in accordance with policies and regulations.
- Perform nursing procedures including intravenous fluid and medication administration, blood transfusions, and oxygen therapy.
- Function as a circulator and recovery nurse during and after endoscopy/bronchoscopy procedures with sedation.
- Assist in patient transport, discharge, and post-operative follow-ups.
- Provide instructions to ancillary personnel and participate in departmental meetings and continuing education.
- Handle biopsy tissues and coordinate with pathology as part of procedural duties.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Graduate from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program with a BSN degree.
- Current, unrestricted RN license in the United States or its territories.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ACLS/ALS) certifications.
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting, with prior endoscopy, OR pre-op, post-op, or procedure-based suite experience required.
- U.S. Citizenship is required for employment.
- Physical ability to work in dimly lit rooms, perform heavy lifting (45 pounds and over), stand for up to 8 hours, and walk up to 5 hours per shift.
