Endocrinology Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Job Overview
Carolina Health Specialists is seeking a dedicated Endocrinology Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our busy and dynamic medical team. This full-time position is based in Myrtle Beach, providing a rewarding opportunity to support patients in a specialized endocrine care setting. As an Endocrinology LPN, you will play a key role in patient care, working closely with physicians, the Patient/Clinical Services Manager, and other healthcare professionals to deliver outstanding service to our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver professional nursing care to clinic patients under the supervision of physicians and the Patient/Clinical Services Manager.
- Assess patients' general condition, obtaining vital signs and weight to support clinical decisions.
- Assist physicians during examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments within the endocrinology practice.
- Provide basic patient care as directed, following all clinical protocols and physician instructions.
- Document all activities, interventions, patient and family responses, medication dispensed or prescribed, and other relevant information in the medical record.
- Promote wellness by providing patient education materials and effectively communicating physician advice and instructions.
- Adhere to infection control and safety guidelines, while maintaining strict confidentiality policies.
- Review patient cases, acknowledge requests, and update action notes as necessary before closing cases.
- Handle patient call-back requests promptly and ensure timely follow-up.
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies at minimum required levels and place orders as needed.
- Ensure patient rooms are fully stocked and cleaning logs are kept up to date.
- Demonstrate current competencies applicable to the Endocrinology LPN position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient knowledge of nursing principles and protocols relevant to endocrinology care.
- Understanding of infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality policies and procedures.
- Competency in medical chart reporting and electronic health records management.
- Strong assessment and assistance skills, utilizing universal precautions and safe workplace practices.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, families, staff, and providers.
- Ability to function collaboratively as part of a healthcare team, responding flexibly to changing demands in a busy clinical environment.
- Skill in maintaining and managing medical supply inventories and supporting overall clinic operations.
Qualifications
- Current nursing license required upon hire, with maintenance of licensure throughout employment.
- Background in endocrinology is required.
- Excellent computer and customer service skills are essential.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Work is performed in both office and exam room settings.
- Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, toxic substances, and medicinal preparations is expected.
- Hepatitis B vaccination and TB test are required for employment.
- Position involves sitting, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, and reaching.
- Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and lift up to 100 pounds.
- Regular use of office equipment, such as phones, computers, and fax machines, as well as medical equipment including stethoscopes, EKG machines, and blood pressure cuffs.
- Some travel between office locations may be required.
Schedule & Benefits
This full-time Endocrinology LPN position offers a desirable weekday schedule, with Monday through Thursday hours and half-day Fridays. There are no night or weekend shifts.
