Emergency Medicine Physician (EM Physician, ABEM) – Summary
- Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients of all ages in a busy emergency department.

- Maintain accurate, detailed, and compliant documentation in accordance with hospital and professional standards.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and developing evidence-based treatment plans.
- Stabilize and manage patients experiencing acute medical, surgical, and traumatic emergencies.
- Work collaboratively with nurses, advanced practice providers, and consulting specialists to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Adhere to established clinical protocols and hospital guidelines, ensuring care consistency and safety.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and prognosis.
- Participate in ongoing continuing medical education and stay current with advances in emergency medicine practices.
- Document all patient care activities accurately, including history, physical findings, treatment rendered, and follow-up plans.

- Daily overtime compensation after 12 hours and weekly overtime after 168 hours worked.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Active Texas medical license and Texas DEA (must be current and in hand).
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or board certification in Family Medicine/Internal Medicine (ABFM/ABIM) or osteopathic equivalents.
- Residency training in Emergency Medicine or a relevant specialty.
- Certifications required: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Documentation needed: CME records (past 2 years), case logs (past 2 years), copies of diplomas and training certificates, Social Security card, driver’s license, and recent color photo.
- Proof of TB/Flu compliance and annual completion of 9 hours each in Stroke and Trauma CME.
- Note: ATLS not required for ABEM physicians (initial certification only).
