The role of an Emergency Medicine Physician (EM Physician) is vital in the dynamic and fast-paced environment of a community hospital setting. This position requires a skilled medical professional to deliver high-quality emergency care to patients presenting with a wide range of acute medical issues. As an EM Physician, you will join a dedicated team providing crucial services in a 14-bed emergency department within a 162-bed community hospital. This hospital is designated as a Level 4 trauma center and experiences an annual patient volume of approximately 21,000, offering a challenging and rewarding practice environment.
This full-time role requires coverage for both day and night shifts, with typical shifts running from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. or 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The facility supports a robust emergency medicine team, including medical assistants (MA), registered nurses (RN), nurse practitioners (NP), and physician assistants (PA). Specialty backup is available on call, ensuring comprehensive care for all emergency cases. The support staff and services include ambulatory care, obstetrics, surgery, emergency department, and medical/surgical care, promoting collaboration and coordinated patient management.
As an Emergency Medicine Physician, you will be expected to perform all standard emergency room procedures, utilizing the Medhost electronic medical records (EMR) system for efficient patient documentation and information sharing. The position requires board certification in emergency medicine or an equivalent pathway, such as American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) with at least two years of emergency department experience. Active state medical licensure or eligibility through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC), as well as an active DEA license (or willingness to transfer), are required. In addition, certifications in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are mandatory.
