Emergency Medicine Physicians are responsible for managing a diverse patient population, with the emergency department seeing an annual volume of approximately 32,000 visits and an average of 87 encounters per day. The department is well-equipped with a multi-disciplinary support staff including Medical Assistants (MA), Registered Nurses (RN), Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants (NP/PA), and access to a robust network of subspecialists in areas such as General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Cardiology, Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGYN), Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, and Psychiatry. Specialty backup is always on call to assist with complex cases, ensuring comprehensive patient care around the clock.
The position requires the ability to perform all standard emergency room procedures, utilizing Cerner for electronic medical records. Physicians must be board certified, preferably in Emergency Medicine (ABEM), but those with board certification in Internal Medicine (ABIM) or Family Medicine (ABFM) and a minimum of two years' emergency department experience are also eligible. Active state licensure or eligibility through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC), along with a current DEA registration in the state or willingness to transfer, are required. Additional certifications such as Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are essential for this position.
