As an Emergency Medicine Physician, you will join a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing exceptional emergency medical services in a general and surgical hospital setting, featuring a Level 3 trauma center. The hospital supports a collaborative environment with robust specialty backup and a strong, experienced support staff, ensuring comprehensive care for patients.

Working in Whiteville, North Carolina offers the advantage of a close-knit medical community with a commitment to patient-centered care. Physicians in this role benefit from a flexible shift schedule designed to optimize work-life balance. Shifts include daytime, evening, and overnight options, tailored to meet the needs of both the hospital and the medical team. The facility features 12 emergency department beds and five triage rooms, with an annual patient volume of approximately 24,000 and an average of 32 daily patient encounters. This environment is ideal for physicians who thrive in settings that require quick decision-making and the ability to perform a wide variety of emergency procedures.

Board certification is required for this position. Physicians with certification from the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM), or those certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) or American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) with at least two years of emergency department experience, are encouraged to apply. An active North Carolina medical license, DEA registration (or willingness to transfer), and current ACLS and PALS certifications are mandatory requirements. The hospital utilizes Cerner EMR, streamlining documentation and patient tracking to enhance clinical efficiency. A full complement of support staff, including Medical Assistants (MAs), Registered Nurses (RNs), Nurse Practitioners (NPs), and Physician Assistants (PAs), is available to assist in delivering seamless emergency care. Physicians will also have access to specialty backup in surgery, neurology, cardiology, obstetrics/gynecology, and orthopedics, further supporting comprehensive patient management in the emergency setting.
