Emergency Medicine Physician (EM Physician) Position OverviewOptigy is seeking a dedicated Emergency Medicine Physician (EM Physician) for a permanent, onsite opportunity in Newark, New Jersey. This full-service emergency department (ED) manages approximately 39,000 annual patient visits and operates in a dynamic, urban environment, providing diverse clinical exposure and strong collaboration between physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs). The department utilizes the Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system, enabling efficient workflow and high-quality patient care. This is a 1099 employment opportunity, ideal for professionals seeking a long-term role within a busy and supportive clinical setting.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality emergency medical care to a wide range of patients in a busy urban emergency department.
- Collaborate closely with fellow emergency medicine physicians and advanced practice providers to ensure comprehensive patient management.
- Utilize the Epic EMR system to document patient encounters and coordinate care efficiently.
- Adhere to department protocols and provide care in accordance with current best practices in emergency medicine.
- Participate in scheduled shifts, including day, mid, and night blocks, to support continuous ED coverage and ensure optimal patient care.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain board certification or eligibility as required by the department.
- Board certification or eligibility in Emergency Medicine through ABEM or AOBEM is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience practicing emergency medicine in a clinical setting.
- Active New Jersey medical license is strongly preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency with the Epic EMR system or willingness to learn.
- Annual volume: 39,000 patient visits.
- Flexible shifts available, including day (7am–7pm), mid (10am–10pm), and night (5pm–5am) blocks.
- Physician shifts span Monday through Sunday, with a variety of scheduling options to promote work-life balance.
