The Emergency Medicine Physician (EM, MD/DO) position involves managing a busy emergency department that sees approximately 17,124 patients annually, translating to about 47 patients per day. The facility is equipped with nine beds, including dedicated spaces for psychiatric and trauma cases, although it is not classified as a trauma center. Physicians will work alongside advanced practice providers and benefit from a flexible shift schedule, with no on-call responsibilities required. The role requires efficient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of emergent medical conditions, as well as timely coordination with on-site specialties such as Obstetrics/Gynecology, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, Oncology, Surgery, Radiology, Psychiatry, and therapy services.

To be considered for this Emergency Medicine Physician (EM, MD/DO) position, candidates must possess board certification or board eligibility in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine, with at least two years of recent experience in emergency settings. Those who are not EM-trained or ABEM-certified must hold current certifications in ACLS, ATLS, and PALS. An active Louisiana medical license or Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC), as well as valid DEA and CDS registrations, are required. Immunization records, including flu and TB vaccines, must be current, and all standard facility requirements must be met. Application documentation should include copies of medical licenses, DEA and CDS certificates, education and training diplomas, ECFMG certification (if applicable), a Social Security card, driver's license, color photo, and immunization records.
