Emergency Medicine Physicians (EM) are expected to cover a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, and overnight hours. The exact hours are flexible and can be adjusted according to the physician’s availability and the hospital’s needs. A required in-person orientation ensures that all new providers are familiar with hospital protocols and workflows before beginning clinical duties. This orientation typically occurs the Friday before the scheduled start date or within two weeks prior to the assignment’s commencement.
Serving as an Emergency Medicine Physician (EM) in this setting will enable you to utilize your expertise in a broad range of emergency procedures, including invasive and non-invasive ventilation management, central and arterial line placements, chest tube insertion, temporary transvenous pacemaker placement, lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and responding to codes. Physicians will also be expected to work efficiently with Epic EMR and maintain a clear and concise documentation standard.
This locum tenens opportunity is designed for candidates with an active state medical license or eligibility via the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required, and candidates must be able to successfully complete the hospital’s credentialing process, which typically takes 60-90 days. Emergency privileges may be granted to candidates with a clean professional background, expediting the placement process.
