Emergency Medicine Physician (EM) – Locum Tenens Job OverviewOptigy is seeking a dedicated Emergency Medicine Physician (EM) – Locum Tenens for assignments at healthcare facilities in Kilgore, TX and Marshall, TX. This full-time locum tenens role is suited for physicians who excel in dynamic, high-acuity emergency medicine environments and are comfortable providing independent coverage across different hospital settings. Key Responsibilities- Deliver comprehensive emergency medical care to patients presenting with a wide range of acute medical conditions.
- Perform patient assessments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and initiate appropriate treatment plans in accordance with facility protocols.
- Provide independent coverage and adapt quickly to varying facility needs and patient volumes at Kilgore and Marshall locations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and optimal outcomes.
- Document all patient encounters accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record system.
- Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives as directed by the health system.
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
- Current and unrestricted medical license to practice medicine.
- Board certification requirements vary by facility:
- Kilgore: Accepts American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM)/American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) with emergency medicine experience.
- Marshall: ABEM certification required.
- ABPS and other alternative boards are not accepted.
- For non-ABEM physicians: Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are required.
- Residency training in Emergency Medicine; for Kilgore, Internal Medicine (IM) or Family Medicine (FM) with emergency department experience is acceptable.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and efficiently in high-pressure situations.
The assignment is with a respected health system serving East Texas, with five facilities: Longview, NorthPark, Kilgore, Marshall, and Henderson (opening August 2025). Locum tenens physicians will provide services exclusively at Kilgore and Marshall locations, offering focused opportunities to contribute to patient care in a region known for its supportive work environment and dedication to the community.
