Emergency Medicine Physician (EM) Locum Tenens Position OverviewOptigy is seeking an Emergency Medicine Physician (EM) for a locum tenens position in Marshall, Texas. This full-time opportunity provides a 12-month assignment at a high-acuity community-centered facility, offering flexible monthly shifts and the chance to collaborate with skilled nurse practitioners and physician assistants. If you are ABEM-certified and EM residency-trained, this role presents an excellent opportunity to practice emergency medicine in a well-supported environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients presenting with a wide range of acute and urgent conditions.
- Work alongside a dedicated team of NPs and PAs to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care within the emergency department.
- Participate in a structured shift schedule, collaborating with colleagues to maintain consistent physician coverage and optimal patient flow.
- Adhere to established clinical protocols and documentation standards in all aspects of patient care.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including nursing, ancillary staff, and hospital leadership.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to a positive, collaborative workplace culture.
- Board Certification in Emergency Medicine (ABEM required).
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Emergency Medicine residency program.
- Current, unrestricted medical license in Texas (or ability to obtain prior to assignment start).
- Demonstrated expertise in emergency medical care and ability to manage a broad spectrum of acute presentations.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and clinical decision-making skills.
- Certifications beyond ABEM are not required for this position.
- Alternative boards, including ABPS, are not accepted for this assignment.
- Location: Marshall, Texas – a community-focused setting with access to high-acuity emergency care.
- Employment Type: Full-time, Locum Tenens.
- Assignment Length: 12 months, starting July 2025.
- Minimum of 5 shifts per month required, with flexible scheduling.
- Average physician coverage: 25.86 MD hours per day.
- Average NP/PA coverage: 11.29 hours per day.
- Typical shift times include 7a–4p, 1p–9p, 9p–7a (Monday), and 7a–3p, 2p–10p, 9p–7a (Sunday, Tuesday–Thursday).
- This facility is one of two sites currently accepting locum physician coverage.
