Emergency Medicine Physician (EM) – Locum Tenens Position OverviewOptigy is seeking experienced and dedicated Emergency Medicine Physicians (EM) for a locum tenens assignment at a well-established health system in Osage Beach, Missouri. This is a contract-based, onsite role offering flexible scheduling and a dynamic work environment within a high-volume emergency department. As an Emergency Medicine Physician (EM), you will play a critical role in providing high-quality, timely medical care to patients presenting with a wide variety of urgent and emergent health conditions. This locum tenens position is ideal for physicians seeking flexibility and the opportunity to practice in a collaborative team setting.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients of all ages presenting to the emergency department.
- Assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for acute illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies.
- Perform necessary medical procedures and interventions appropriate to the emergency medicine scope of practice.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including advanced practice providers (APPs) and nursing staff, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Efficiently manage a high volume of patient encounters, ensuring accurate medical documentation and adherence to clinical protocols.
- Participate in a coverage model that includes both physician and APP support, allowing for coordinated care delivery.
- Work scheduled 12-hour shifts with no on-call responsibilities; night shift coverage is highly preferred for this assignment.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements throughout the duration of the locum tenens contract.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (EM) is preferred.
- Family Practice (FP) or Internal Medicine (IM) physicians may be considered with a minimum of 3 years of emergency department experience.
- Active and unrestricted medical license and controlled substance license for the state of Missouri.
- Current DEA registration and a valid driver's license.
- Valid certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Completion of an accredited residency program and provision of related education certificates.
- Flu and TB screening within the past 12 months.
- Up-to-date continuing medical education (CME) records for the past two years.
- Submission of case and procedure logs as required by credentialing standards.
- Ability to meet all board certification or eligibility requirements within specified timelines.
- Assignment Dates: June 1, 2025 – October 31, 2025
- Shift Times: 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., 1:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- Annual Emergency Department Volume: Approximately 37,000 patient visits
- Coverage Model: 34 MD hours and 30 APP hours per day
- No on-call requirement
