This locum tenens, full-time position is based onsite and is designed for board-certified or board-eligible physicians specializing in Emergency Medicine (EM), Family Practice (FP), or Internal Medicine (IM), with a preference for those who have completed an accredited residency program. The assignment is offered by Optigy and located in Lufkin, Texas, providing practitioners with a supportive, collaborative, and fast-paced emergency department setting.

This Emergency Medicine Physician position is ideal for professionals who are adaptable, resilient, and eager to deliver high-quality patient care in a 24/7 environment. The emergency department sees an annual patient volume of approximately 28,900, averaging around 78 patients per day, and is equipped with 12 ED beds. Physicians will work alongside experienced nurse practitioners and physician assistants, with 24-hour NP/PA coverage ensuring comprehensive patient support. The role requires a commitment to a minimum of six shifts per month over an initial six-month period, with shift options from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Physicians in this role will utilize the Medhost EMR system, and orientation including EMR training is provided to ensure a smooth transition. There are no call requirements, allowing practitioners to dedicate their full focus to providing optimal emergency care during their scheduled shifts. Candidates who are not ABEM certified must hold current certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Basic Life Support (BLS).

To be eligible for this Emergency Medicine Physician locum tenens position, candidates must possess an active Texas medical license and meet credentialing requirements with a typical timeframe of approximately 60 days. Accepted board certifications include ABEM, AOBEM, ABFM, and ABIM. Immunizations such as flu vaccines are required, with waivers considered on a case-by-case basis. Candidates must be prepared to complete all onboarding and credentialing steps as outlined by the facility.
