Optigy is seeking a dedicated and experienced Emergency Medicine Physician (EM, ABEM, FM, IM) for an open-ended locum tenens, full-time opportunity. This role is based onsite at a busy community emergency department. The ideal candidate will join a high-volume team committed to providing quality, compassionate care to a diverse patient population. As an Emergency Medicine Physician (EM, ABEM, FM, IM) in this locum tenens, full-time role, you will be part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team. The emergency department manages an annual patient volume of approximately 28,415, averaging 79 patients daily. You will provide direct patient care, coordinate with nurse practitioners and physician assistants, and leverage robust specialty backup, including Cardiology, Endocrinology, Pulmonary, Urology, Gastroenterology, ICU, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Radiology, and General Surgery. The facility operates with 10 ED beds and does not have a trauma designation.
Shift coverage consists of 34 hours daily by physicians and 12 hours daily by NP/PA staff, with physician shifts structured as 7a-7p, 2p-12a, and 7p-7a, and NP/PA shifts from 9a-9p. You will use the Ochsner EPIC EMR system, and comprehensive orientation, EMR training, and a shadow shift will be provided to ensure a smooth onboarding process. Expedited privileging is available for candidates with a clean file, and travel and lodging are covered for the duration of the assignment.
The credentialing process typically takes 30-60 days, and requires an active Louisiana medical license. Board certifications accepted include ABEM, AOBEM, ABFM, and ABIM (ABPS is not accepted). Candidates must be board-eligible or board-certified in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine. For those not ABEM-certified, current ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certifications are necessary. Residency training is preferred but not mandatory. Immunizations are required, with waivers considered on a case-by-case basis.
