If you are an experienced and board-certified Emergency Medicine Physician seeking an opportunity with a rewarding professional environment, consider joining a dedicated team providing high-quality emergency medical services. This full-time position offers the chance to deliver emergency care in a stand-alone emergency hospital, supporting a diverse patient population with both minor and moderate trauma cases. The facility offers a fast-paced environment, comprehensive support, and ongoing opportunities for professional growth.

As an Emergency Medicine Physician, you will be responsible for providing acute care and stabilization for a variety of medical emergencies. The hospital’s emergency department features nine ED beds and six short-stay inpatient beds, handling an annual volume of approximately 20,500 patients—averaging about 57 patients each day. Physicians work either day (6 a.m. - 6 p.m.) or night (6 p.m. - 6 a.m.) shifts, ensuring 24-hour patient coverage and comprehensive care. The facility utilizes the EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system, streamlining documentation and coordination of care.

The Emergency Medicine Physician role is open to those with board certification in Emergency Medicine (EM, ABEM), Internal Medicine (ABIM), or Family Medicine (ABFM) with a minimum of two years of emergency room experience. This inclusive approach ensures that highly qualified professionals from various backgrounds can contribute to the hospital’s mission of delivering exceptional emergency care.

All standard emergency room procedures are performed in this setting, and physicians must be comfortable stabilizing and transferring patients when necessary. Patients requiring more advanced trauma care are transferred to a nearby tertiary care center. Support staff includes Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants (NPPA) available daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., providing additional clinical expertise and patient support.

The credentialing process is expedited to allow for a fast onboarding experience, and the hospital provides full travel coverage for physicians joining the team. Active state licensure (Louisiana or IMLC), along with a current DEA and Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) license in Louisiana (or willingness to obtain or transfer), are required for employment. Additional certifications such as Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) are also mandatory.

Working as an Emergency Medicine Physician in this high-acuity, stand-alone facility offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on patient outcomes in a supportive and collaborative environment. The facility serves as an essential healthcare resource for the region, and the team is committed to delivering timely, compassionate, and evidence-based care to every patient. Physicians who thrive in dynamic settings and are committed to excellence in emergency medicine will find this role both challenging and rewarding.
