Emergency Medicine Physician (EM/ABEM) – Summary
- Full-time locum tenens opportunity for an Emergency Medicine Physician (EM/ABEM) in Chalmette, LA
- High-volume community emergency department with annual ED volume of 28,415
- Collaborative team environment with comprehensive specialty backup
- Open-ended assignment starting June 2025
- Expedited credentialing available for candidates with clean files
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality emergency medical care to diverse patient populations
- Manage approximately 79 patients per day with an 11.3% EMS and 8.7% admission rate
- Work in a 10-bed emergency department (no trauma designation)
- Collaborate with a team of physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants
- Complete orientation, EMR training, and a shadow shift prior to independent practice
- Utilize the Ochsner EPIC EMR system for efficient and accurate patient documentation
- Work scheduled shifts, including 7a-7p, 2p-12a, 7p-7a for physicians, and 9a-9p for NP/PA coverage
- Ensure compliance with all credentialing and privileging requirements

Qualifications & Requirements
- Active Louisiana medical license required
- Board-eligible or board-certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM, AOBEM), Family Medicine (ABFM), or Internal Medicine (ABIM)
- For non-ABEM certified physicians, current ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certifications are required
- Residency training preferred, but not mandatory
- Must complete all orientation and EMR training requirements
- Immunizations required (waiver considered)
- Credentialing timeframe typically 30-60 days
- Clean file preferred for expedited onboarding
- ABPS not accepted
