We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Emergency Medicine Physician (EM) to join our dynamic team. The hospital is not a designated trauma center but features a robust emergency department with a high annual patient volume and a variety of specialty backup services.
The Emergency Medicine Physician (EM) role involves working 12-hour shifts with flexible scheduling options, including days, nights, and weekends. Shifts are available at various times throughout the day, providing coverage for a 52-bed emergency department, which includes main beds, trauma beds, and psychiatric beds, as well as an additional 10-bed overflow unit. The ED is supported by an advanced electronic medical record system (Epic) and offers 24-hour catheterization lab services. The department is currently experiencing growth, with a new emergency department featuring 75 exam rooms under construction and scheduled to open in late 2024-2025.
Candidates must be comfortable working both day and night shifts, including weekends, to ensure comprehensive patient care coverage. The site is actively seeking professionals to fill open full-time equivalent (FTE) positions, including nocturnist roles. A minimum commitment of six shifts per month is required, making this an excellent opportunity for physicians seeking a flexible yet consistent work schedule.
All specialty backup is available with the exception of Ophthalmology, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS), and hand surgery. Candidates must be Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Emergency Medicine and have completed an accredited Emergency Medicine residency program. Providers holding Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) licenses are encouraged to apply, provided they have a Letter of Qualification and a clear timeline for obtaining their license. The institution offers a streamlined process for granting temporary privileges, allowing most files to be reviewed and approved rapidly to support timely onboarding and patient care needs.
To maintain the highest standards of care and compliance, applicants must hold an active Kentucky medical license and DEA registration at the time of application. The physician must also have an unblemished professional record, including a clean background and claims history, which must be fully disclosed during the application process. Essential certifications required for this position include Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
