Emergency Medicine Physician (EM) Position Overview
Optigy is seeking a dedicated Emergency Medicine Physician (EM) to join a well-supported, low-volume emergency department within a critical access hospital. This permanent, full-time, onsite role offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality emergency medical care in Luling, TX. The emergency department is designed to meet the needs of the local community while maintaining strong support systems and resources for clinical staff. Emergency Department Environment
- Annual emergency department volume: approximately 10,000 visits
- Five emergency department beds provide a focused care environment
- Daily patient volume averages 30 individuals
- Single-coverage shifts available in 12- or 24-hour increments (physician-only staffing model)
- Supported by two experienced nurses per shift
- Designated as a Level IV Trauma center
- Uses Cerner electronic medical records (EMR) for efficient documentation
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients presenting with a wide range of conditions
- Stabilize and manage trauma and acute medical emergencies according to established protocols
- Collaborate with nursing staff and utilize available onsite technology, including CT, MRI (daytime), ultrasound, and a full laboratory
- Coordinate seamless specialty access and patient transfers as required through centralized systems
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Cerner EMR
- Engage in continuous professional development, including participation in annual clinical assemblies and leadership training
Qualifications
- Board certification by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine with demonstrated Emergency Medicine experience
- Ability to work effectively in a single-coverage emergency department setting
- Commitment to high standards of patient care and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team
