Optigy is seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine Physician (ABEM) for a locum tenens, full-time opportunity at a community hospital in Escanaba, Michigan. This role is ideal for board-certified professionals who are committed to delivering high-quality emergency care in a dynamic clinical setting. As an Emergency Medicine Physician (ABEM), you will join a dedicated team managing an annual facility volume of approximately 18,000 patient encounters, averaging around 50 encounters per day.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients presenting with a broad range of acute conditions and injuries.
- Adapt to a coverage model that includes 24-hour physician coverage alongside 12-hour support from Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants (NP/PA).
- Effectively manage shift duties, including both day (7 a.m. – 7 p.m.) and night (7 p.m. – 7 a.m.) schedules, with NP/PA support during 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. shifts.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare staff to coordinate patient care, implement best practices, and optimize outcomes in the emergency department.
- Ensure thorough, timely documentation of all clinical encounters, following facility protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in the ongoing assessment and improvement of emergency care services within the hospital environment.
Qualifications
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) is required.
- Active, unrestricted Michigan medical license and valid DEA registration.
- Minimum of two years of documented Emergency Medicine case log experience.
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to work both day and night shifts.
- Clean malpractice and disciplinary record.
Credentialing Requirements
- Must maintain an active Michigan medical license throughout the duration of the assignment.
- Possess current ABEM certification.
- Credentialing process is estimated to take approximately 60 days.
- No start-up support is provided; candidates should be prepared to independently manage their transition into the role.
Position Details
- Employment Type: Locum Tenens, Full-Time, Onsite
- Minimum commitment of five shifts per month is required.
- Both day and night shift opportunities are available to fit scheduling preferences.
- Travel expenses are covered as part of the locum tenens arrangement.
