Emergency Medicine Physician (ABEM) - Locum Tenens Job OverviewOptigy is seeking a dedicated Emergency Medicine Physician (ABEM) for a locum tenens, full-time onsite position in Alexandria, LA. This opportunity is ideal for board-certified or board-eligible physicians seeking to deliver high-quality care in a fast-paced emergency department. The role involves working within a Level II Trauma Center, supported by a comprehensive team and robust specialty backup, ensuring optimal coverage and patient care outcomes.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care in a high-volume emergency department with an annual census of approximately 50,000 visits.
- Collaborate with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), hospital medicine teams, and specialty consultants to manage a wide range of emergency cases.
- Utilize MediTech EMR to document patient care accurately and efficiently.
- Participate in trauma care as part of a Level II Trauma Center, responding to emergent and critical patient presentations.
- Support the fast-track system to ensure efficient patient flow for lower-acuity cases.
- Adhere to established protocols, hospital policies, and best practices in emergency medicine.
- Board Certification or Eligibility in Emergency Medicine (ABEM preferred) or Family/Internal Medicine with relevant emergency department experience.
- Active Louisiana medical license, or willingness to obtain one prior to start date.
- Strong clinical skills and the ability to manage a broad spectrum of emergency presentations in a high-volume setting.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems, specifically MediTech.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- 60 hours per day of physician coverage and 60 hours per day of APP coverage, ensuring comprehensive support during each shift.
- Full spectrum specialty backup available, providing confidence in managing complex cases.
- On-site hospital medicine team to facilitate admissions and continuity of care.
- Fast track system designed to expedite care for lower-acuity patients.
