Emergency Medicine Physician (ABEM) Position Overview
Optigy is seeking a dedicated Emergency Medicine Physician (ABEM) for a full-time locum tenens assignment in Corydon, Indiana. This position offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative and supportive emergency medicine environment, providing critical care to patients while partnering with an experienced team of nurse practitioners and physician assistants. The facility is community-focused, emphasizing teamwork and quality care, and is situated within reach of the Louisville metro area, offering access to the scenic landscapes and amenities of Southern Indiana.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality emergency medical care to patients presenting with a wide range of acute illnesses and injuries.
- Collaborate closely with other emergency medicine physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Work within a structured shift model, with 12-hour shifts (7am–7pm or 7pm–7am), ensuring continuous coverage of emergency department needs.
- Utilize the EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system for efficient and accurate documentation of patient encounters.
- Participate in a staffing model that includes 24 physician hours and 10 NP/PA hours daily, supporting a manageable annual emergency department volume of approximately 13,500 visits.
- Comply with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulations while delivering patient-centered emergency care.
- Engage in expedited credentialing processes, including the provision of all necessary documentation and participation in emergency temporary privileges if required.
Qualifications
- Board-certified or board-eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM).
- Active, unrestricted Indiana medical license required.
- For IM/FM physicians: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and emergency department experience required.
- For ABEM physicians: No life certifications required as per board requirements.
- Ability to provide a current TB test within the past 12 months (or x-ray if positive).
- Submission of three peer references.
- Provision of copies of all current licensure, DEA registration, education certificates, and relevant procedure or case logs.
