Located in Salem, VA, this site offers a unique chance to practice in a community known for its welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of collaboration among healthcare professionals. Working as an Emergency Medicine NP/PA in Salem, VA, allows practitioners to experience the benefits of a supportive work environment while serving the acute needs of the local community. The assignment is ongoing, beginning as soon as credentialing is complete and continuing until permanent staffing solutions are established. Schedules include days, nights, and weekends, providing ample flexibility and the chance to gain experience across all ED shifts.
The emergency department sees an annual volume of 45,000 patients and operates under a coverage model that includes 48 hours of NP/PA coverage per day. The department offers a variety of shifts to accommodate provider preferences, with options that include early mornings, mid-days, swing shifts, and overnights. This ensures that practitioners can find shifts that best suit their availability and lifestyle. The ICU is closed, allowing EM NP/PAs to focus exclusively on emergency department care. Four full-time positions are currently open for immediate placement, and candidates will begin work as soon as credentialing requirements are met.
To qualify for this Emergency Medicine NP/PA position, candidates must hold an active state license and be able to complete the credentialing process efficiently. National certification through ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center) or NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) is required, as is current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification. Only candidates with recent, direct main ED experience will be considered; those with backgrounds limited to urgent care or who are new graduates are not eligible for this assignment. The ideal applicant is comfortable providing care across all shifts, including days, nights, and weekends, and has a demonstrated ability to thrive in a high-volume, high-acuity environment.
