The Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (EM NP/PA) position offers an excellent opportunity for experienced advanced practice providers seeking a dynamic and rewarding role in an acute care setting. This is an immediate opening for qualified Nurse Practitioners (NPs) or Physician Assistants (PAs) to join a dedicated emergency medicine team. The facility is a general acute care hospital, operating as a Level 4 trauma center with a medium acuity patient population and a strong annual emergency department (ED) volume.
As an EM NP/PA, you will be an integral part of the emergency department, collaborating closely with board-certified physicians and a comprehensive support staff. The hospital features a robust network of specialties including OB/GYN, Imaging, Ultrasound, Cardiology, Orthopedics, General Surgery, and Urology, ensuring a collaborative and well-supported environment for high-quality patient care. The emergency department is equipped with 14 ER beds within a 162-bed hospital, handling approximately 21,000 ED visits annually.
The coverage model includes 24-hour physician presence and 10 hours of advanced practice provider coverage, with 12-hour shifts. Candidates must be able to commit to at least three shifts per month, providing flexibility for those seeking consistent but manageable scheduling. The hospital utilizes Medhost as its electronic medical records (EMR) platform, promoting efficient documentation and streamlined workflow.
Qualified applicants must hold an active state medical license and an active DEA license, or be willing to transfer their credentials as needed. Required certifications include Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), ensuring providers are prepared to manage a wide range of emergency situations. Board certification is mandatory for all candidates.
