Electronics Test Technician Job Overview
The Electronics Test Technician position is responsible for performing essential functions in the testing, calibration, and repair of electronic assemblies and systems. This full-time role involves working with a variety of electronic equipment, utilizing technical knowledge to ensure the quality and functionality of products prior to release. The Electronics Test Technician plays a critical role in supporting engineering and production teams by applying troubleshooting skills and maintaining precise documentation throughout the process.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, calibrate, and test electronic circuits, components, and mechanical assemblies as part of the production process.
- Perform debugging and repair of electronic assemblies, including troubleshooting down to the component level.
- Utilize a strong working knowledge of RF, analog, and digital systems to identify and resolve issues in new products.
- Calibrate and maintain test equipment, ensuring accuracy and reliability for ongoing testing operations.
- Maintain detailed records and documentation associated with testing, debugging, and repair activities, supporting document control requirements.
- Assist with the construction and testing of prototypes to support development and production goals.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of test methods and procedures based on blueprints, drawings, and diagrams.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the goals of the production and engineering departments.
Qualifications and Skills
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from test reports, schematics, and product specification sheets.
- Familiarity with test and calibration instructions to ensure precision and compliance with standards.
- Demonstrated understanding of electrical and electronic theories, troubleshooting techniques, and assembly processes.
- Proficiency in using small hand and power tools for assembly and repair tasks.
- Previous experience with PC-based testing equipment is preferred but not required.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination, effective communication, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Certification to IPC-A-610 Standard is recommended but not mandatory.
- Ability to obtain or currently possess a security clearance is considered advantageous, but not required.
Education and Experience
- 0–1 years of relevant work experience in debugging electronic assemblies to the component level is required for this Electronics Test Technician position.
