As a Director of Risk Management, you will be entrusted with designing and executing the company’s overarching risk management processes, ensuring that all insurance policies are suitable and cost-effective while aligning with organizational objectives. The role involves analyzing financial impacts, managing relationships with insurance brokers and carriers, negotiating favorable terms, and overseeing the claims process to minimize company exposure. Ensuring compliance with regulations, maintaining detailed records, and preparing comprehensive risk assessment reports for internal stakeholders are key components of this position.
The Director of Risk Management will also serve as a strategic advisor, proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational and financial risks. You will cultivate a culture of risk awareness throughout the company, enabling staff at all levels to understand how risk affects their functions. Additionally, you will oversee the bond and surety program, administer captive insurance for workers’ compensation, general liability, and auto claims, and may be called upon to review company contracts for potential risk exposures.

Director of Risk Management - Summary- Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of corporate risk management frameworks and insurance programs.
- Act as a strategic advisor on risk mitigation, insurance renewals, and financial impact analysis.
- Champion a culture of risk awareness and regulatory compliance across the organization.
- Provide leadership in insurance negotiations, claims management, and internal stakeholder education.
- Design and implement risk management processes, including financial impact analysis.
- Select and manage relationships with insurance brokers and carriers.
- Analyze, assess, and negotiate insurance policies to ensure adequate coverage.
- Oversee claims administration and settlement evaluations.
- Identify and promote risk reduction policies and procedures company-wide.
- Develop and coordinate loss control functions.
- Maintain thorough records of insurance policies, claims, and budgets.
- Prepare and present risk assessment reports for internal stakeholders.
- Administer captive insurance for workers’ compensation, general liability, and auto insurance.
- Review contracts to identify and mitigate potential risk issues as needed.

- Minimum of 8 years of risk management experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in both brokerage and corporate risk management settings.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and database management.
