The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) is responsible for performing a diverse range of diagnostic ultrasound and echocardiographic examinations for both inpatient and outpatient populations. This position requires expertise in transthoracic and stress echocardiography, Doppler imaging, and general ultrasound studies. A strong focus on patient safety, image quality, and accurate documentation is essential, as is the ability to collaborate closely with physicians to identify abnormalities and assist with advanced procedures. You will be expected to maintain and operate a variety of imaging equipment, respond to emergent patient conditions, and follow strict facility protocols to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - Summary
- Perform a full spectrum of diagnostic ultrasound and echocardiographic procedures for diverse patient populations.
- Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot sonography equipment to ensure top performance and accuracy of results.
- Document and communicate findings in accordance with established protocols.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Correlate patient clinical histories with requested examinations and prior diagnostic tests.
- Recognize normal anatomical variants and changes due to medical or surgical procedures.
- Document arrival, departure, and completion of tests as per policy, ensuring all image series are submitted accurately for physician review.
- Perform equipment warm-ups, calibrations, and quality control checks according to manufacturer and facility guidelines.
- Explain procedures to patients, provide instruction, and assist with positioning for optimal imaging.
- Compile and archive procedure records, ensuring data integrity and privacy.
- Monitor and report patient reactions, initiate emergency measures as needed for critical situations.
- Identify abnormalities during testing and determine the need for additional imaging.
- Conduct a comprehensive range of ultrasound studies, including but not limited to:
- Obstetrical sonography
- Pelvic and abdominal sonography
- Thoracic, small parts, and pediatric sonography
- Endovaginal and intraoperative sonography
- Vascular sonography and Doppler analysis
- Operate a variety of sonography/ultrasonography equipment, including scanners, probes, and PACS systems, adhering to protocol.
- Advise physicians of examination results, provide preliminary diagnoses, and communicate urgent findings promptly.
- Maintain and clean equipment, manage supplies, and recommend repairs as necessary.
- Stay current with advancements in the field by reviewing literature and attending educational events.
- Demonstrate readiness to respond to cardiac or respiratory emergencies.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Graduate from an academic program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
- Certification as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by ARDMS or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
- Minimum of one year of full-time clinical experience as a Cardiac Sonographer, with experience in both outpatient and inpatient echocardiographic studies.
- Demonstrated proficiency in performing and interpreting a wide range of ultrasound exams.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction and team collaboration.
