IDR is seeking a Designer III to join one of our top clients for an opportunity in Hagerstown, Maryland. This role involves designing and developing critical tooling solutions to support aircraft modification and component sub-assembly operations. The company operates within the aerospace industry, focusing on innovative manufacturing and engineering solutions.
Position Overview for the Designer III:
- Design and develop component and system tooling to support aircraft modification and component sub-assembly operations
- Lead the design of jigs, fixtures, lifting devices, and semi-automated equipment in support of manufacturing needs
- Provide engineering design concepts that support manufacturing processes and tooling solutions
- Work with general direction while exercising independent judgment in defining objectives, methods, and technical approaches
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure tooling designs meet operational and production requirements
Requirements for the Designer III:
- CAD design and modeling using 3DEXPERIENCE, including 3D models and detailed 2D drawings
- End-to-end design ownership through fabrication, tool build, and process tryout
- Technical support for product engineering to ensure manufacturability, testing, and field readiness
- Tool acceptance and validation support for in-house fabrication and external procurement
- Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline and typically 6 or more years of relevant experience
