Dental Hygienist (RDH) - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct dental hygiene assessments, including review of medical and dental histories.
- Perform oral health screenings and periodontal evaluations to identify oral diseases.
- Complete preventive dental procedures such as prophylaxis, scaling, root planning, fluoride application, sealant placement, and desensitizing agent application.
- Take, process, and evaluate dental radiographs according to certification and safety standards.
- Assist in the early detection and documentation of oral diseases or abnormalities, reporting findings to the dentist.
- Educate patients on effective oral hygiene techniques, dietary recommendations, and preventive care.
- Clearly explain dental procedures and post-treatment instructions to patients.
- Work collaboratively with dentists and dental team members to ensure continuity of care.
- Assist dentists during examinations and procedures as required.
- Prepare patients and clinical areas for procedures, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control, sterilization, and clinical safety protocols.
- Keep dental records updated with clinical findings, treatments, and patient education provided.
- Comply with federal, state, and local regulations including OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards.
- Maintain active licensure as a Dental Hygienist (RDH) and participate in continuing education.
- Support efficient clinic operations by managing equipment, instruments, and supplies readiness.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited dental hygiene program (CODA of the ADA).
- Active license to practice as a Dental Hygienist (RDH).
- AHA/ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- 10-digit National Provider Identifier (NPI) number.
- Certification in radiography.
- Minimum of 1 year of specialized experience post-graduation in dental hygiene.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
