Dental Hygienist (RDH) - Summary
- Provide preventive dental care services, including hygiene assessments, oral screenings, and periodontal evaluations.
- Collaborate with dental professionals to support individualized treatment plans for each patient.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and preventive care, promoting optimal long-term oral health.
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and documentation standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive dental hygiene assessments and review medical and dental histories.
- Perform oral health screenings and periodontal evaluations to detect early signs of disease.
- Deliver preventive dental procedures such as dental prophylaxis, scaling, root planing, and application of fluoride, sealants, and desensitizing agents.
- Expose, process, and evaluate dental radiographs in line with safety standards.
- Assist in identifying, documenting, and reporting oral diseases or abnormalities to the dentist.
- Educate patients on effective brushing, flossing, and dietary recommendations for oral health.
- Communicate dental procedures and post-treatment instructions clearly and compassionately.
- Collaborate with the dental team to support comprehensive treatment plans and continuity of care.
- Assist dentists during patient examinations and procedures as necessary.
- Prepare patients and treatment areas to ensure safety, comfort, and efficiency.
- Accurately record clinical findings, treatments, and patient education in dental records.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including OSHA, infection control, and HIPAA.
- Follow protocols for sterilization, instrument processing, and clinical safety.
- Maintain active licensure and participate in continuing education to stay current in the field.
- Support efficient clinic operations and contribute to the readiness of equipment and supplies.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree from an accredited dental hygiene program (CODA of the ADA).
- Current, active license to practice as a Dental Hygienist (RDH).
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (AHA/ARC BLS) certification.
- Certified in dental radiography with the ability to expose and evaluate dental radiographs.
- Possession of a 10-digit National Provider Identifier (NPI) number.
- Minimum of one year of specialized experience following graduation from a dental hygiene program.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
