Dental Hygienist (RDH) - Summary
As a Dental Hygienist (RDH), you will serve as a primary provider of preventive oral care, working closely with dentists and the broader dental care team. Your responsibilities extend from patient assessment and clinical procedures to patient education and administrative support. Duties & Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome all assigned patients, ensuring a positive and professional first impression.
- Conduct comprehensive medical and dental histories, collaborating with outside healthcare providers when necessary to ensure safe and effective care.
- Perform thorough intra-oral and extra-oral examinations for all patients, identifying areas of concern and documenting findings.
- Take dental radiographs as clinically indicated and in accordance with established protocols.
- Provide prophylaxis cleaning and polishing, helping patients maintain optimal oral hygiene and prevent disease.
- Perform root scaling and planing to treat and manage periodontal disease, following best practice guidelines.
- Deliver patient education on topics such as periodontal health, oral hygiene techniques, and preventive care, tailored to individual needs.
- Collaborate and confer with supervising dentists regarding patient assessments and treatment plans.
- Coordinate appropriate referrals to dental specialists based on clinical findings and practice protocols.
- Document all patient activity, treatment, and education in the electronic patient chart to ensure accurate records and continuity of care.
- Set up and break down treatment rooms between patients, maintaining a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment.
- Perform laboratory tasks as assigned by the clinical manager or dentist, supporting comprehensive patient care.
- Adhere to all clinical safety protocols and infection control standards, ensuring the safety of patients and staff.
- Participate in administrative and reception duties, including answering phones and scheduling appointments as needed.
- Assist with patient flow and support the care team during emergency situations, ensuring timely and effective patient discharge.
- Cooperate with the dental center's security procedures at all times.
- Other duties as assigned by management to support clinic operations.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited institution.
- Current and valid license to practice as a Dental Hygienist (RDH) as required by the state.
- Current CPR certification.
- Proficiency with dental practice management software, such as Dentrix, or willingness to learn.
- Commitment to attending continuing education meetings and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of best practices in dental hygiene and infection control.
