Deburring Lead - Summary
- Lead the deburring and lapping area for precision aerospace components, ensuring all processes meet blueprint and work order specifications.
- Utilize MRP systems to prioritize job orders, run dispatch reports, and track job progress.
- Report key metrics, delays, and issues to management in a timely manner.
- Train new team members on deburring techniques, safety protocols, and quality standards.
- Support the department manager in special projects and process improvement initiatives.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Run and interpret dispatch reports to ensure job orders are processed efficiently and on schedule within the deburring and lapping departments.
- Communicate job status, issues, and production metrics to supervisors and management.
- Participate in and lead ongoing process improvement efforts focused on increasing efficiency and quality in deburring operations.
- Develop and implement deburring aids, estimate cycle times, and suggest process adjustments to optimize workflow.
- Train and mentor new and existing team members on deburring protocols, safe equipment operation, and best practices.
- Deburr metal parts using stationary abrasive wheels, handheld rotary air tools, hand scraping devices, and other equipment as required.
- Perform critical dimension inspections to ensure adherence to tight tolerances, including checks to +/- .0002 inches.
- Operate drill presses, wire brushes, conical burr cutters, and various deburring machines safely and effectively.
- Clean and maintain work areas, including benches, shelves, carts, and floors, ensuring compliance with safety and cleanliness standards.
- Utilize solvents and cleaning agents as necessary to prepare parts for further processing.
- Maintain required OCP (Certified Operator Program) certification throughout employment.
- Assess potential nonconformances before beginning deburring processes to prevent defects and ensure product quality.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and safety protocols.
- Contribute ideas for lean process improvements within the team environment.

Qualifications & Requirements
- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- 3-5 years of precision deburring experience, including previous lead or supervisory responsibilities.
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) preferred, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
- Strong command of the English language, both written and spoken; bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is advantageous.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, safety rules, blueprints, and procedure manuals.
- Proficient in basic mathematical functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and the ability to work with fractions and decimals.
- Experience using MRP/ERP systems and basic computer applications such as Windows and internet browsers.
- OCP (Certified Operator Program) certification required.
- Excellent reasoning skills and ability to solve problems using common sense and standardized procedures.
- Physical ability to stand, sit, walk, handle tools and objects, and lift/push/pull up to 25 lbs as needed.
