Cybersecurity Engineer

As a Cybersecurity Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced web application security systems. Your focus will include managing web application firewalls (WAFs), bot protection platforms, and vulnerability scanning tools. Your expertise will help safeguard our organization’s web applications while helping to identify, remediate, and manage threats and vulnerabilities. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring that security best practices are consistently followed and that secure coding and development methodologies are fully integrated into the software lifecycle.
Successful candidates will have several years of hands-on experience in vulnerability management and web application security. You should be adept at using industry-standard scanning tools, analyzing and prioritizing vulnerabilities, and guiding software development teams in remediation efforts. In addition, staying current with emerging security threats and industry trends will be a key part of your responsibilities, as your recommendations will directly impact the ongoing improvement of our security infrastructure.

Cybersecurity Engineer - Summary- Remote contract position with potential for extension or full-time conversion

- Implement and manage web application firewalls (WAFs) and bot protection systems to prevent malicious attacks
- Operate vulnerability scanning tools and identify security vulnerabilities in web applications and systems
- Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and technical documentation related to WAFs and bot protection
- Collaborate with development and cross-functional teams to integrate security solutions across the organization
- Offer training and support to teams regarding vulnerability findings and remediation strategies
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging threats, recommending improvements to web application security infrastructure
- Conduct regular dynamic and static security testing throughout the development lifecycle using tools such as HCL AppScan and Burp Suite
- Prioritize vulnerabilities based on risk and impact, and coordinate remediation with development teams
- Provide actionable recommendations for improving overall web application security

- Minimum 4 years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 1 year in infrastructure or development roles
- Strong background in vulnerability management and web application security
- Hands-on experience with application vulnerability scanning platforms such as HCL AppScan, Burp Suite, Zed Attack Proxy, or Nessus
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
- SSCP (or greater) certification required within 180 days of hire
- Experienced in using web application firewalls (WAFs) and bot protection systems
- Proficient in documenting security procedures and policies
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python is preferred
- Exposure to agile development methodologies and DevOps practices is a plus
- Demonstrates initiative in staying current with the latest security threats and technologies
- Applicants must have permanent US work authorization
