The Cybersecurity Analyst role is a pivotal position for those passionate about building strong information security programs and making a significant impact within an established, member-owned electric cooperative. Working as a Cybersecurity Analyst, you will be responsible for designing and implementing robust cybersecurity monitoring programs and processes tailored to the unique environment of the electric cooperative. Your efforts will focus on reducing organizational risk through proactive vulnerability assessments, security testing, and the deployment of cutting-edge security technologies. You will serve as a technical authority in network security, incident response, and automation, directly influencing the organization's ability to detect, respond to, and recover from security threats.
This Cybersecurity Analyst role reports to the Director of IT Infrastructure & Security and involves collaboration with the IT Operations team to ensure alignment of security best practices throughout the organization. As a core member of the Incident Response Team, you will provide critical analysis and support during security events, helping to mitigate potential risks and maintain operational continuity. Additionally, you will play a key role in developing and delivering cybersecurity awareness and training programs, empowering employees to recognize and respond to evolving threats effectively.

Cybersecurity Analyst - Summary- First dedicated Cybersecurity Analyst for a respected electric cooperative
- Reports to the Director of IT Infrastructure & Security
- Focus on building and maturing the organization's cybersecurity program
- Influence overall security posture and risk management strategies
- Work in a collaborative, employee-centered environment
- Design and implement cybersecurity monitoring programs, technologies, and processes to reduce organizational risk
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and security testing; recommend and oversee remediation strategies
- Configure, deploy, and maintain security platforms and technologies across the enterprise
- Serve as a core member of the Incident Response Team, providing analysis and hands-on support during security events
- Develop scripts and automation solutions to streamline security operations and recurring tasks
- Partner with IT Operations to enhance security practices across the organization
- Assist in developing and delivering cybersecurity awareness and training programs for all employees

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field (required)
- At least five (5) years of professional experience supporting information security or cybersecurity functions
- Hands-on experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS technologies, malware analysis tools, vulnerability management, and scanning platforms
- Strong proficiency with Unix/Linux environments
- Thorough understanding of server and endpoint security best practices
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuous learning
- Strong communication skills for delivering training and collaborating across departments
- Preferred certifications: CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or equivalent cybersecurity certifications
