The opportunity for a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (Critical Care NP/PA) is now open for highly skilled and dedicated healthcare professionals. The Critical Care NP/PA will work within an open ICU model that includes 49 licensed beds, with 6 designated ICU beds. The facility uses EPIC with Dragon for electronic medical records, supporting efficient and accurate documentation. Critical Care NP/PA - Summary- Role: Critical Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (Critical Care NP/PA)
- Setting: Open ICU model
- Patient census: Average of 22 patients, 2-4 admissions per day
- Supervised by an attending physician
- Utilizes EPIC with Dragon for EMR documentation
- Full-time and contract opportunities available
- Deliver comprehensive care to patients within the ICU, collaborating closely with supervising physicians and the multidisciplinary team
- Perform advanced procedures, including but not limited to indirect laryngoscopy intubation, central and arterial catheter insertion and management, moderate sedation, lumbar puncture, endotracheal intubation and extubation, ventilator management, assessment for intubation, and ventilator weaning
- Manage chest tube insertion, tracheostomy care and tube changes, arterial line insertion and removal (radial and femoral), and CVC line placement
- Provide external pacing, including adjustment of temporary epicardial, transvenous, or transcutaneous pacemakers as needed
- Respond to and manage tension pneumothorax in emergent situations
- Perform paracentesis and other specialized procedures within the scope of practice
- Ensure accurate and timely EMR documentation using EPIC and Dragon
- Participate in a 7-on, 7-off shift schedule with night shifts from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
- Maintain high standards of patient safety, quality care, and professionalism at all times

- Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) license required
- Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in critical care
- Possession of a valid state license or compact license
- Active DEA registration or willingness to transfer credentials as needed
- ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Previous experience in critical care settings preferred
- Ability to work night shifts and adhere to a 7-on, 7-off schedule
- Demonstrated expertise in managing critically ill patients in an ICU environment
- Skilled in advanced procedures relevant to critical care practice
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Strong commitment to delivering evidence-based patient care and continuous professional growth
- Adaptability to fast-paced, high-acuity clinical settings
- Proficient in using electronic medical records, specifically EPIC and Dragon
