As a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA) – Pulmonary ICU, you will play a vital role in supporting the ICU by managing critically ill patients, performing advanced procedures, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care. The position offers a rotating schedule with primary night shifts and occasional day rotations, allowing for a dynamic and engaging work environment. This is a 100% inpatient role with responsibilities that encompass comprehensive health assessments, treatment planning, and ongoing patient management within the ICU setting.
The position is located in the vibrant state of Virginia, with openings in both Harrisonburg and the Coastal Virginia Beach area. Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA) – Pulmonary ICU Summary
- Full-time, hospital-based role specializing in pulmonary critical care within the ICU setting

- Rotating night and day shift schedule, with a primary focus on night shifts

Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage critically ill patients in the ICU, providing comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans
- Perform bedside procedures independently, including central line placements, arterial lines, Udalls, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and chest tube placements
- Collaborate with attending physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate complex care
- Prescribe medications and treatments, monitor progress, and adjust care plans as needed
- Utilize Epic EMR for accurate and timely documentation of all patient encounters
- Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes
- Adhere to hospital policies, medical staff bylaws, and all regulatory requirements
- Educate patients and families regarding disease management, preventive care, and treatment options
- Engage in ongoing professional development and team activities to maintain high standards of care

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of Virginia, or eligibility to obtain
- Acute care training and experience in pulmonary critical care preferred
- New graduates with a completed Critical Care Fellowship are encouraged to apply
- Demonstrated competency in ICU bedside procedures
- Proficiency with Epic EMR or willingness to train
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
