Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) - ICU Summary
- Provide advanced practice care to critically ill patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions in the ICU setting.
- Collaborate with Intensivists, physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Utilize evidence-based practice and clinical expertise to manage complex cases.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed patient assessments, record medical histories, and perform physical evaluations for ICU and step-down unit patients.
- Develop and implement therapeutic care plans, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and manage discharge planning.
- Educate patients and families about procedures, medications, self-management of side effects, and available community resources.
- Provide symptom management for treatment-related toxicities and facilitate communication regarding care goals, including end-of-life decisions.
- Collaborate with referring clinicians, document all care activities accurately in the medical record, and ensure compliance with hospital by-laws and regulations.
- Prescribe medications in accordance with state and federal licensing requirements, and provide clinical orders during on-call duty under physician supervision.
- Perform clinical rounds in both the Infusion Center and Inpatient Unit, write progress notes, and serve as a liaison between patients, nurses, and physicians.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Master's degree in Nursing with NP specialty or graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current and valid state RN and Advanced Practice NP licenses, or current PA licensure as applicable.
- National Board Certification (ANCC, AANP, or equivalent for NPs).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications (AHA preferred or obtained within 30 days of hire).
- Optional certifications: Oncology Nursing Society (ONS), Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP).
- Demonstrated clinical experience and proficiency in critical care or ICU settings.
