Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) – ICU Summary
- Full-time advanced practice role in a busy, high-acuity intensive care unit
- Night shift schedule (7p-7a) focusing exclusively on ICU patient care
- Work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams
- Utilize cutting-edge technology and a fully integrated EHR (Epic)
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care for critically ill adult patients in the ICU during overnight hours
- Perform advanced procedures including arterial line placement, central venous line insertion, thoracentesis, and paracentesis
- Conduct detailed patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and initiate appropriate therapies
- Monitor patient progress, recognize changes in condition, and respond rapidly to emergent situations
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to collaborative care planning
- Document all clinical activities thoroughly and accurately using the Epic EHR system
- Maintain open communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team
- Support the unit in achieving quality and safety goals, including participation in quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) license
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Certification as an Acute Care NP (ACNP), Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP (AGACNP), or Physician Assistant (PA-C) preferred
- Demonstrated experience in critical care or acute care settings
- Proficiency in ICU procedures such as arterial lines, central venous lines, thoracentesis, and paracentesis
- Strong clinical judgement, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality
- Ability to work independently during night shifts
