Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) - Summary
- Deliver comprehensive healthcare services for critically ill inpatients in the ICU setting
- Perform and manage advanced bedside procedures
- Participate in a hospital-based, multidisciplinary team environment
- Utilize advanced EMR systems for documentation and communication
- Work rotating night and day shifts to ensure continuous patient care
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Perform procedures including central line placements, arterial lines, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and chest tube insertions
- Manage acute and chronic illnesses in critically ill patients
- Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions as appropriate
- Collaborate with attending physicians and interdisciplinary team members for coordinated care
- Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives
- Ensure adherence to hospital bylaws, rules, and regulations
- Utilize Epic EMR for patient documentation and care coordination
- Educate patients and families about disease processes, treatment plans, and preventive health strategies
- Participate in regular team meetings and case discussions
- Engage in professional development and maintain current clinical knowledge

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA-C) with appropriate state licensure
- Acute care training and experience required; critical care fellowship completion preferred for new graduates
- Demonstrated experience in performing bedside procedures in a hospital setting
- Strong knowledge of critical care medicine, pulmonary care, and advanced assessment skills
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
