The Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) – APP is a vital clinical position within a dynamic and collaborative critical care team. This role is essential for providing advanced patient care in a mixed intensive care unit (ICU) at a mid-sized regional referral hospital. The successful candidate will offer expertise in managing a diverse patient population, including cardiac, neurological, surgical, trauma, and general critical care cases. This full-time position offers consistent scheduling and the ability to work both day and night shifts, with flexible shift options to support work-life balance. The hospital boasts strong service lines in cardiac, stroke, neuro, cancer, and orthopedic care, and the critical care unit operates as a Level 3 trauma center. With a 24-bed ICU and an annual emergency department (ED) volume of 44,000, this environment offers exposure to a wide variety of acute care scenarios, making it an excellent setting for professional growth and hands-on clinical experience.

The Critical Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – APP will work alongside a multidisciplinary support staff, including daily APP coverage and scribe assistance, ensuring optimal workflow and patient documentation. The position requires proficiency in performing a range of critical care procedures across cardiovascular, neurological/surgical, respiratory, and general trauma categories. Familiarity with Cerner electronic medical records (EMR) is preferred to facilitate seamless patient care documentation.

Applicants must be board certified by ANCC, AANP, or an equivalent certifying body and hold an active state license with the appropriate DEA registration. Additional certifications in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required to meet the rigorous demands of the critical care setting.
