Are you a highly skilled and compassionate Critical Care Nurse Practitioner seeking an impactful role in an acute care environment? We are actively seeking experienced Advanced Practice Providers (Nurse Practitioners) to join our inpatient critical care team. This full-time contract opportunity offers the chance to work in a dynamic hospital setting, providing vital care in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), Rapid Response Team, and medical Step Down Unit. The position is structured as a 6-month contract with a strong potential for extension based on performance and departmental needs.
As a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner, you will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to manage patients with complex and acute medical conditions. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in improving patient outcomes, supporting families, and ensuring seamless transitions of care within the critical care continuum. You will be working three 13.5-hour shifts per week, primarily during night hours, which are currently our highest area of need. There is no on-call requirement, allowing you to focus fully on patient care during your scheduled shifts.
The patient load typically ranges from 10 to 18 patients per shift, with responsibilities spanning both ICU and Stepdown units. You will be expected to demonstrate sound clinical judgment, proficiency in advanced procedures, and a commitment to evidence-based practice. Critical Care Nurse Practitioner (NP, ACNP, AGACNP) - Summary

Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, and management of critically ill patients in the ICU and Stepdown Unit
- Respond to rapid response calls and collaborate with the Rapid Response Team to stabilize acute deteriorations
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests and laboratory results
- Initiate and manage treatment plans, including prescribing medications and performing advanced procedures within scope of practice
- Document all patient care activities accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
- Participate in daily interdisciplinary rounds and collaborate with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other allied health professionals
- Provide education and support to patients and families throughout the critical care journey
- Ensure adherence to all hospital policies, safety standards, and best practice guidelines

Qualifications & Requirements
- Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP, ACNP, AGACNP) licensure
- Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP) preferred
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in critical care or ICU settings strongly preferred
- Ability to work efficiently and independently during night shifts
- Advanced skills in critical care procedures and management
- Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills
