The Coronary Care Unit Registered Nurse (CCU RN) is an integral member of the critical care team, specializing in providing advanced nursing care to patients with severe cardiac conditions. As a CCU RN, you will demonstrate flexibility in floating between the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Coronary Care Unit (CCU), and Medical-Surgical Telemetry (MS Tele) units as required by patient census and hospital needs. Your expertise in acute and critical care nursing will be essential in supporting patients experiencing complex cardiac events, requiring close monitoring, rapid assessment, and intervention.
The CCU RN is responsible for upholding regulatory requirements as outlined by Title 22, CMS, and The Joint Commission, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance in all aspects of nursing care. The position requires a strong commitment to teamwork, patient advocacy, and continuous professional development. The role’s scope includes providing direct patient care, supporting interdisciplinary communication, and assisting with tasks as needed to maintain optimal unit operations.
With a minimum of two years of acute care nursing experience and at least one year of travel nursing experience, the ideal candidate for the CCU RN position is adept at managing high-acuity scenarios and thrives in fast-paced environments. An active California RN license, along with certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS, are required to ensure readiness for any cardiac emergency or critical care situation.
