Construction Superintendent – Commercial Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent – Commercial for a full-time opportunity in Las Vegas, NV. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in ground-up and tilt-up commercial construction projects and a proven capability to manage all aspects of field operations. Working for a well-established general contractor, the Construction Superintendent – Commercial will play a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day activities of commercial construction sites, ensuring that projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise all field activities to ensure project milestones and schedule completion dates are achieved, providing continuous oversight throughout the lifecycle of each project.
- Develop and maintain short-term project schedules, communicate critical events, and proactively identify and resolve potential issues to keep projects on track.
- Implement and manage the project site safety plan, fostering a culture prioritizing health, safety, and cleanliness across all job sites in Las Vegas, NV.
- Coordinate all construction efforts to deliver projects in accordance with contract documents and industry best practices, ensuring orderly execution and adherence to the agreed scope.
- Establish and maintain dimensional controls, utilizing third-party survey and layout personnel when necessary to ensure the accuracy of construction work.
- Verify all work is performed to a high standard (including being plumb, level, and straight) and obtain all necessary inspections to ensure compliance and quality documentation.
- Ensure all construction activities comply with contracts, legal requirements, and local regulations within the Las Vegas, NV community.
- Administer client-specific programs (such as landlord/site rules, safety protocols, and site security measures) as required by project specifications.
- Organize and participate in pre-construction, progress, and staff meetings to facilitate clear communication among stakeholders.
- Monitor self-performed work to confirm it is completed within established project budgets and manage changes in scope effectively, ensuring up-to-date documents are in use.
- Oversee contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and other agreements to guarantee all terms and conditions are proactively met throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage the punch list and project closeout process to ensure timely, successful completion of all deliverables.
- Maintain accurate daily paperwork, including timecards, field reports, schedule updates, and correspondence.
- Foster positive working relationships with supporting groups, such as vendors, clients' internal departments, and security personnel.
- Assist with proposal development, estimate reviews, and participate in interviews and project marketing efforts as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support company goals and project success in Las Vegas, NV.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Demonstrated experience managing tilt-up and ground-up commercial construction projects.
- Experience with Tenant Improvement (TI) projects is required.
- Background in automobile dealership builds is a plus.
- Associate's degree in Construction Management or similar field, or Journeyman status in a building trade from an accredited organization with progressive supervisory experience.
- Thorough understanding of construction means and methods for commercial and institutional buildings, including site work.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, email, scheduling, Microsoft Office, and other industry-related software.
- Current safety credentials, including OSHA 30, First Aid, and CPR certification.
