Construction Superintendent Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Construction Superintendent to oversee the onsite management and execution of commercial and public works construction projects. This full-time position focuses on ensuring that every project phase is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual and quality standards. The Construction Superintendent will play a key role in coordinating resources, supervising teams, and upholding the highest levels of communication and professionalism. Key Responsibilities
- Directly manage the onsite construction activities for assigned projects, ensuring all work meets project requirements and safety standards.
- Coordinate and schedule subcontractors, multi-prime contractors, and internal teams to maintain efficient workflow and meet project milestones.
- Maintain strong, positive relationships with project stakeholders, including owners, architects, consultants, and contractors, to foster collaboration and open communication.
- Supervise self-performed work and ensure that all labor, materials, and equipment are used efficiently throughout the project lifecycle.
- Process and track requests for information and clarifications, ensuring timely and accurate responses to keep the project moving forward.
- Update and manage as-built drawings, ensuring they accurately reflect completed work and any field modifications.
- Monitor project costs, progress, and other key metrics, providing detailed reports to ensure effective supervision and control.
- Develop comprehensive project schedules and update them regularly to reflect progress and changes, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Document construction progress with photos and prepare daily reports to maintain thorough project records.
- Review contract documents and shop drawings to verify compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Assist the Project Manager in identifying and estimating changes, providing input on potential impacts to scope, schedule, or budget.
- Take the lead in implementing and enforcing project and company safety plans, ensuring a safe work environment for all personnel.
- Communicate and collaborate closely with the Project Manager and other team members throughout all project phases.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial and public works construction projects is preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong numerical skills.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple activities simultaneously in a dynamic job site environment.
- Demonstrated capability to resolve issues independently, using sound judgment and adherence to company standards.
- Effective communicator with strong teamwork and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Procore and MS Project scheduling software is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving history are required.
