Construction Superintendent - Summary
The Construction Superintendent is responsible for managing day-to-day field operations to ensure commercial projects are completed on time, within scope, and in compliance with safety and quality standards. This leadership position requires proficiency in scheduling, safety management, and communication with various stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and internal teams. The Construction Superintendent ensures that all aspects of construction are performed according to contract documents and industry best practices.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily field activities to meet project schedules and milestones.
- Develop and maintain short-interval look-ahead schedules and communicate project updates to stakeholders.
- Implement and enforce site safety plans, fostering a culture of safety, health, and cleanliness.
- Oversee construction quality to ensure work is performed in accordance with contract documents and industry standards.
- Establish and maintain dimensional controls, including management of third-party survey and layout personnel as needed.
- Verify quality workmanship and ensure all installations meet required specifications.
- Obtain required inspections and maintain comprehensive documentation of project quality.
- Ensure compliance with all contract terms, legal regulations, and community standards.
- Administer client-specific programs, such as site rules, safety, and security protocols.
- Lead and participate in pre-construction, progress, and staff meetings to facilitate project communication.
- Manage self-performed work to ensure adherence to the project budget.
- Oversee scope changes to prevent rework and ensure current documents are utilized.
- Administer contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders, ensuring compliance with all terms and conditions.
- Manage the punch list and project closeout process for timely project completion.
- Maintain daily reports, timecards, schedule updates, and correspondence.
- Collaborate with support teams, vendors, and security personnel to ensure smooth project operations.
- Prepare project schedules, review estimates, and assist in proposal development.
- Participate in marketing efforts and project acquisition.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational goals.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Extensive experience in tilt-up, ground-up, and tenant improvement (TI) commercial construction projects.
- Experience with automobile dealership construction is a plus.
- AS degree in Construction Management or related field, or Journeyman status in a building trade from an accredited institution.
- Proven track record of progressive responsibility supervising construction projects.
- Thorough understanding of construction means, methods, and industry standards for commercial and institutional buildings.
- Proficiency in construction software, including Microsoft Office, scheduling programs, and email communication tools.
- Current safety credentials, including OSHA 30, First Aid, and CPR certifications.
