Construction Superintendent Job OverviewThe Construction Superintendent plays a pivotal role in supervising and managing work performed on a range of projects, from small commercial installations to large, complex endeavors involving multiple plumbing, piping, and sheet metal systems. This full-time position is based in Austin, TX, and is ideal for a professional with extensive industry experience who excels at both technical oversight and team leadership. As a Construction Superintendent, you will support project execution, safety, and quality, ensuring that all work meets the highest standards and is completed on schedule and within budget.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and oversee all aspects of construction projects, including managing project field manpower and ensuring that systems are installed according to project specifications and codes.
- Establish project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within the parameters of corporate policy.
- Initiate and sustain effective liaison with clients, architects, and engineering contacts to facilitate smooth construction activities.
- Direct, manage, and lead field teams to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, proactively investigating and resolving potentially serious situations.
- Represent the company in project meetings and participate in strategic discussions to optimize project outcomes.
- Manage the quality of installed systems and ensure compliance with all relevant standards and client expectations.
- Schedule and allocate manpower efficiently to maintain or improve labor budgets and project schedules.
- Collaborate closely with project managers to coordinate project activities and address emerging challenges.
- Assume additional responsibilities as directed by corporate executives or project leadership.
- At least 10 years of verifiable experience in plumbing, piping, or sheet metal trades, with a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role.
- Comprehensive knowledge of plumbing blueprints, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Familiarity with major craft blueprints and the ability to interpret them for effective project execution.
- Expertise in all aspects of plumbing systems, including installation methods for domestic water and medical gas systems.
- Thorough understanding of piping and ductwork systems, including installation techniques and industry standards.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with both employees and clients.
- Proven ability to supervise multiple foremen and effectively manage large project teams.
- Demonstrated experience in project scheduling and meeting critical deadlines.
