Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and administer comprehensive safety programs to maintain a safe work environment and meet or exceed the company's annual safety goals.
- Ensure all project materials are supplied and work is completed in compliance with the Project Quality Program or equivalent standards.
- Verify that all construction activities adhere to approved plans, specifications, design drawings, and applicable codes, maintaining the company’s high standards of quality on multi-family and hotel projects.
- Develop, maintain, and update the construction schedule daily, ensuring all project milestones and completion dates are achieved in collaboration with the project team.
- Coordinate with the project team to issue material and service purchase orders, confirm material receipts, and manage the return of equipment as needed.
- Maintain a thorough inventory log, handle distribution of materials to employees, and supervise field staff and subcontractors to ensure efficient and timely project execution.
- Lead and mentor project team members, fostering their professional development and career growth within the company.
- Conduct and document daily progress through detailed superintendent logs, monitor site events, inspections, and ensure all relevant information is accurately tracked.
- Hold weekly safety meetings and job discussion forums, as well as manage and perform weekly safety inspections to uphold safety standards.
- Prepare and distribute comprehensive weekly progress reports, ensuring timely submission by the end of each week.
- Build and maintain credibility among owners, trade contractors, and other stakeholders by fostering a fair, trustworthy, and collaborative work environment.
- Review project details with architects/engineers and subcontractors to verify compliance with project documents and plans, including vendor drawings and submittals.
- Promote and maintain a culture of quality, recognizing its impact on operations and striving to deliver a product that exceeds customer expectations.
- Authorize and approve supervision personnel transactions, including hiring, transfers, and wage decisions, in conjunction with project managers to ensure proper staffing levels.
- Lead or participate in project planning sessions to drive creative solutions and implement effective work plans, supporting overall project objectives.
- Interface with all work teams, including subcontractors, to resolve issues, ensure quality, safety, and adherence to schedules.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2-5 years' experience supervising ground-up multi-family or hotel construction projects.
- Thorough understanding of all construction trades, with the ability to read and interpret specifications for each trade.
- Previous experience as a foreman or journeyman is preferred.
- OSHA 10-hour training or equivalent certification.
- CPR and First Aid certifications required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and advanced skills in Microsoft Project and Procore.
- Experience with BIM, LEAN, and LEED practices is a plus.
- Ability to manage digital images and documentation efficiently.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and motivational skills with extreme attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work outdoors year-round in various weather conditions and travel throughout all areas of construction sites during different project phases.
- Capability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks as required by the construction environment.
- Valid motor vehicle driving record consistent with company and insurance standards.
- Effective use of mobile and electronic communication tools to remain in contact with other company managers as needed.
