Construction Superintendent - Summary
The Construction Superintendent is charged with overseeing all aspects of assigned commercial construction projects from the earliest stages of ground preparation through final completion and closeout. This role requires a combination of technical construction knowledge, leadership ability, and effective communication skills to ensure that all site activities align with contract documents, safety regulations, and client expectations. The Construction Superintendent will coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to drive project success and uphold the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise all daily field activities to ensure adherence to project schedules, milestones, and overall completion deadlines.
- Develop and maintain short-interval look-ahead schedules to anticipate and address upcoming project needs and potential obstacles.
- Implement and enforce comprehensive site safety plans, fostering a culture of health, safety, and cleanliness among all personnel.
- Maintain strict quality control by ensuring construction meets or exceeds industry standards and contract requirements.
- Establish and oversee all dimensional controls, utilizing third-party survey and layout teams as necessary.
- Verify that all construction work is performed to high standards of workmanship, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Coordinate and obtain all necessary inspections, maintaining thorough documentation of quality assurance processes.
- Ensure compliance with all legal, contractual, and regulatory requirements relevant to the project and jobsite.
- Administer client-specific programs, including adherence to landlord/site rules and safety/security protocols.
- Lead and participate in pre-construction, progress, and project staff meetings.
- Manage self-performed work activities, ensuring they are completed within established project budgets.
- Oversee and document changes in project scope, ensuring the use of current documents and preventing unnecessary rework.
- Administer contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and agreements, ensuring that all terms and conditions are met proactively.
- Manage project punch lists and closeout processes for timely and accurate project delivery.
- Maintain accurate daily paperwork, including timecards, field reports, schedule updates, and correspondence.
- Facilitate effective communication and coordination with client representatives, vendors, and support departments.
- Support project proposals by developing schedules, reviewing estimates, and participating in proposal creation and interviews.
- Engage in client relationship building and assist in business development activities as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support company goals and objectives.

Qualifications & Requirements
- Demonstrated experience managing tilt-up and ground-up commercial construction projects.
- Proven track record in tenant improvement (TI) construction.
- Experience with automobile dealership construction projects is a plus.
- Associate’s degree in Construction Management or similar, or Journeyman status in a building trade from an accredited organization, paired with progressive supervisory experience in construction.
- In-depth understanding of construction means, methods, and best practices for commercial and institutional construction projects.
- Proficiency with construction management software, spreadsheets, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Current safety credentials, including OSHA 30, First Aid, and CPR certifications.
