We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Construction Superintendent to join our team on a full-time basis in Los Angeles, CA. As a Construction Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing ground-up commercial construction projects, including projects in the automobile dealership sector. This role is ideal for experienced professionals with a strong background in tilt-up and ground-up construction, as well as tenant improvement (TI) work. Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all day-to-day field activities to ensure project milestones and schedules are met, maintaining continuous supervision of all onsite work.
- Create and maintain short-interval, look-ahead project schedules to communicate upcoming events, track progress, and address issues proactively.
- Develop, implement, and manage site safety plans to foster a culture of safety, health, and cleanliness on the project site.
- Oversee project construction to ensure orderly, deliberate progress that complies with contract documents and industry best practices.
- Establish and maintain dimensional controls for the project, utilizing third-party survey and layout personnel as needed.
- Verify that all work is installed to a high standard of quality and workmanship, including ensuring work is plumb, level, and straight.
- Coordinate and obtain all necessary inspections, ensuring quality documentation of all physical work.
- Ensure all project activities are compliant with contract terms and legal requirements governing the project and the surrounding community.
- Administer client-specific programs, including landlord/site rules, safety protocols, and site-specific security requirements.
- Lead or attend pre-construction, progress, and team meetings to ensure effective communication and project alignment.
- Manage self-performed activities to ensure that work is completed within the established project budget.
- Oversee project scope changes and ensure the use of current documents to prevent unnecessary rework.
- Administer contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and other agreements to ensure proactive compliance with all terms and conditions.
- Manage punch lists and the project closeout process to ensure timely and successful project completion.
- Maintain accurate daily paperwork, including timecards, field reports, schedule updates, and email correspondence.
- Foster timely and professional interactions with supporting teams such as internal departments, vendors, and security personnel.
- Prepare project schedules for proposals, review estimates, assist in proposal creation, and participate in interviews as needed.
- Engage in marketing and business development activities to support project acquisition.
- Perform additional duties as required to support company goals.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in managing tilt-up and ground-up commercial construction projects.
- Comprehensive experience with Tenant Improvement (TI) projects.
- Experience with automobile dealership construction projects is highly advantageous.
- Associate’s degree in Construction Management or a related field, or Journeyman status in a building trade from an accredited organization, accompanied by progressive supervisory experience in construction.
- Thorough understanding of construction means and methods related to commercial and institutional building projects and associated site work.
- Proficiency in spreadsheets, email, scheduling software, Microsoft Office, and other construction industry tools.
- Current safety certifications, including OSHA 30, First Aid, and CPR.
