Construction Superintendent Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and driven Construction Superintendent to join our team in Sacramento, CA, on a full-time basis. The Construction Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing all onsite activities of large-scale construction projects, particularly within K-12 school districts. With projects ranging from $30 million to over $50 million in construction costs, the Construction Superintendent will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of all phases, from project initiation through completion. This position calls for a leader who excels at managing teams, coordinating subcontractors, and upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all onsite construction activities, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Coach and mentor subcontractors on safe construction practices and enforce safety protocols throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct quality control inspections, addressing and correcting all subcontractor deficiencies to maintain project standards.
- Maintain, monitor, and update the project schedule, establishing the critical path for subcontractors and vendors to ensure timely completion.
- Facilitate effective coordination and collaboration among all subcontractors and trade partners.
- Work closely with design teams and project owners to resolve challenges and unforeseen site conditions.
- Review all project drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Prepare and deliver daily progress reports and provide weekly schedule updates to stakeholders.
- Uphold strong working relationships with clients and trade partners, representing the company in a professional manner at all times.
- Adopt and apply industry best practices related to safety, quality, scheduling, and cost control throughout the project duration.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of construction experience, ideally with large-scale commercial or educational projects.
- At least 5 years of supervisory or leadership experience in construction management.
- Experience with K-12 construction projects is preferred.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and submittals.
- Strong understanding of subcontractor management and construction sequencing.
- Familiarity with ASIs (Architect’s Supplemental Instructions), RFIs (Requests for Information), and material submittal processes.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, and Procore construction management software.
- Experience with CMAR (Construction Manager at Risk) and/or Design/Build project delivery methods.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Commitment to client service and staff development.
- OSHA 30 safety certification required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
